You need an “analog/digital bridge” like
Connect the camcorder to the A/D bridge with the AV cable that came with the camcorder. Connect the A/D bridge to your computer’s USB port. Import.
If your computer has a firewire port, better to use
Or, if you get a new camcorder, you can find one that has “analog pass through” and it would act as the A/D bridge…
